Oscar

The Academy Awards are tonight. Are you excited for the event? Or do you plan to avoid the TV area and subsequent media coverage?

I’m dreaming of the beautiful gowns and will live vicariously through the Vera Wang dresses and Armani tuxedos.

Remote Control

Shall I?

Shall IΒ

Shall I watch with hungry eyes

That want to devour the designer fabric?

Will I plant myself like a fern in front of the television set

To watch king Oscar make his shiny appearance?

Let me decide when the moment arrives,

My red carpet looks more like a dirty hardwood floor

And my outfit is blue jeans and light pink sweater.

Perhaps I will watch from the couch

With secret delight,

Glad I am not wearing those uncomfortable heels

Or making polite conversation

Instead of making microwave popcorn.

Yes Casandra the Oscar show can run long. With time zones it is hard to say when it will end. I say choose sleep first but catch up on the highlights in the news tomorrow!

Ah yes, a good way to start your day Veronica. As we discussed earlier, watch for the fashions! I bet there are some pricey outfits and accessories on the red carpet. Nice to see you my friend.

I’m not planning to watch tonight, but I *am* going to surf the net tomorrow for the ubiquitous Best/Worst Dressed lists (I love those!) I’ll also make a mental note to see all of the winning films… at some point in my life. We’re still catching up on the 2009 winners. πŸ™‚

Hmm 2009, I’m trying to remember the ‘must see’s’ for that year. I have not seen all of the nominated movies this year but I will still watch. If it runs long though I may have to forgo to get some sleep! I agree, the top ten lists rock!

I confess, I watch the Oscars from beginning to end, no matter how long it runs, lol. Years ago I used to write down all my ‘picks’ and see how many of them actually won (grins) – these days I’m quite content to drool over all the beautiful gowns …. πŸ™‚ Nice poem, by the way, Christy – I’m going to make popcorn too! Enjoy tonight! ~ Julie xox

Hehe Julie my friend I watched the show as well! Michelle Williams looked beautiful, what was your favourite gown? I hope you added some yummy butter to that popcorn πŸ™‚ Nice to see you today!

My favorite was Penelope Cruz in that absolutely stunning, elegant, flowy dress – I couldn’t tell if it was a smoky blue/lavender hue, or both; but I love her classic beauty and style. Billy Crystal was awesome, as always, and I also loved watching the Cirque du Soleil number – wonderful.

It wasn’t a good eating night last night, but I did enjoy some nice, hot tea! πŸ™‚

Penelope is a good choice too! Her hair was very elegant. I like chamomile tea in the evenings, and I am a Tetley gal. Thanks Julie for the dish of celebrity talk with a side of smiles πŸ™‚

I watched the show and Billy Crystal was wonderful as always. He is so genuine. I am glad he returned to host. Thanks Marc for the compliment (to me and not the Oscars hehe) and I appreciate you took the time to visit.

Time zones can complicate the Oscars can’t they Eric?! At least if you record the show then you can fast forward through the commercials πŸ™‚ I hope you enjoyed the show as well my friend.

Ha ha. I avoided the television and placed myself in front of a stage at a local open mic poetry night. The actor in me is tsk tsk-ing and ‘for shame’-ing but I never did watch a lot of films (or read very many plays for that matter). My heart is in the doing (mainly because I could easily get lost in the emotion of the watching, subsequently doing absolutely nothing) so I signed up to read (actually the piece I just posted). It was a very glamorous night filled with inspiring emoting and well crafted verse. Having said all that, I will have to see ‘The Artist’, apparently.

Yes ‘The Artist’ swept the show, and ‘Hugo’ got a lot of nominations too. I want to see both movies. How did the poetry night go? I bet your poem was well-received Hines. How great that you are spreading the poetic word!

I wouldn’t look even if it wasn’t during the night for us (way too much glitter for me and after all about nothing but money), but gorgeous dresses, oh I like that. If you have some to spare, I’ll give you my address. πŸ˜€
Loved the poem, Christy. Very nice

Steph, I’m glad to see you and glad you enjoyed the poem! I watched the show, fell in love with some of the fashions, and lived to tell the tale today. I can’t afford any of the gowns but if I learn to sew I’ll send you a few home-made clothes πŸ™‚
