Tunes With Tuesday: Let’s Maroon 5 This Site!

Payphone Music

Maroon 5 is hugely popular, especially with lead singer Adam Levine‘s popularity on the TV show The Voice. The newest single by Maroon 5 is Payphone.

The first time I heard the song I thought, “Am I hearing these lyrics correctly?” The song is a little confusing; I mean the lines in the chorus say,

I’m at a payphone

Trying to call home

Let me outline some of the issues here:

  • Adam Levine has piles of money
  • He can afford the change for a phone call
  • If he was in a public phone booth, he would get mobbed
  • He has a smartphone! (maybe two?)

Okay I joke but… seriously?! Meanwhile, on another musical front, the song has a great beat and will surely stay on the charts for a while. Now how do I get my phone number to Adam Levine?

(I will warn you that the video is violent in nature)

I still have to use payphones! Believe me, they are not easy to come by these days. I might have to break down and FINALLY get a cell/smart phone.

I have no idea what the video has to do with the song. And the only teles I have seen which are still maintained are in the airports and hospitals (where they do not want a ton of cell use in the first place). Honestly, I cannot remember the last time I used a payphone. Probably, it was in excess of 20 years ago…That makes me sound so old…

I know, there are not many payphones left here any more either. I thought it was interesting topic for 2012, what with payphones being phased out and Maroon 5 being millionaires who don’t use public phones… oh my… Thanks for stopping by Red!
