Friendship for Days

We are made of moments that extend for days

As our fingers weave together baskets of smiles and

Our souls weave within each other,

Mixing friendship for days.

Kindness awaits me when I see your face

And I know the present moment is safe,

Giving me strength for future falls onto cement

And for re-emergence of calluses from the past.

Your friendship gives me hope when I am thirsty

And nourishes my heart with vitamins of love

And silky threads, soft to the touch,

Soft as the sound of your voice to my ear

As I listen intently to your wisdom.

Beautifully done Christy! “We are made of moments that extend for days” I love that opening line it sums up love and friendship. Life really is about the moments because all we truly have is right now and the song was a perfect complement!

Karen, the “fall onto cement” part came so quickly to me as I read the poem. The extremity of the phrase fits with the jarring movement against the hard surface. I hope we have knee pads on!

A truly beautiful poem accompanied by a beautiful song. While I read your beautiful words and felt the emotion, the song surrounded it all…allowing me to stop & soak in all the meaning.

Lovely. I’ve had friendships that sustained me for decades and many that petered out. But I’ve learned to be grateful for the time I have not for the expectation of what might be.
