Big Five Personality Test: Hey, I’m Like a US President!

Psychology and Personality Testing

Well there you are my wonderful friends!

Let’s take a brief trip down memory lane, shall we? Remember when we took the MBTI personality test a few months ago? Well, CelebrityTypes, the same website that offered that test, recently released a new one. I say we try this one too! Are you in?

This new test, the Big Five Test, is FREE (like the last one) and is another great way for us to explore our personalities. By answering a series of questions on the test (through their website), you can obtain your personality scores as per the Big Five system of personality. This system is an important one in psychology, so you may already be familiar with it.

The cool part about taking the test (just click the link above) is that once you have your score, you can compare it to personalities of 25 US presidents. I mean, how cool is that? Maybe you are like John F. Kennedy or Barack Obama – or not!

Did I take the test? Well, heck yes!

The test only takes a few minutes, as it simply involves marking a spot on an agree/disagree spectrum for each answer. The results page for me shows that I am most like President James Madison on the facets of EOACN (Extroversion, Openness, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness and Neuroticism). I love that the results page is filled with different statements about what I am most likely to be like – for example, “likely to enjoy complex and abstract discussions” and “not likely to discriminate on the basis of race or sexual orientation.”

If you take the test too, please let me know what your results are! I like doing these sorts of things – it’s fun to look at ourselves, US president style!

~This is christyb, hoping you have fun too.

Not a bad thing, Christyb, apparently. ….er….. “James Madison here too, how strange is that?… and get this comment….

“..According to a study done by Jayme Neiman, Ph.D., your scores indicate that you are:

    * Amazingly, your personality is simply too smooth and well-rounded for Dr. Neiman’s study to be able to say anything about you. ”

How cool …er…how weird ..er…dangerous is that. haha! Smiles ~R

Ray, we are alike in mind so I really do get why we share the same president profile. Hope that doesn’t bother you… hehe.

Yup, you are just “too smooth” as per the results 🙂 Well, you know… !!! Thanks for stopping by and smiles back to you.

    Hi Christy

I absolutely enjoyed this personality test.

As to the results, I am most like THOMAS JEFFERSON…

In reference to the main features I got these ones..

    ►Characteristics
Low on Extroversion / Above average on Openness /Below average on Agreeableness/
High on Conscientiousness/ High on Neuroticism, indicating that I am quick to respond to changes in my environment and that I react strongly to both good and bad news

My scores also indicates that I am:

    ►Truth:
Not likely to discriminate on the basis of race or sexual orientation.
More likely to be pro-choice rather than pro-life.
Likely to feel trapped by the status quo.
Likely to enjoy complex and abstract discussions.
Someone who seems impassive to others, while being in fact quite sure of your own views.
Less likely to enjoy fitness training and physical exercise.
Less likely to believe in any kind of dogma that you regard as settled in stone.
More likely to flirt with harm and danger.
More likely than the average person to enjoy bitter vegetables like broccoli and arugula.

    ►Not so true:
    >Less likely to have a tolerant attitude towards smoking: not truth> I smoke cigarettes
    >More likely to favor military intervention as a means of solving foreign policy problems.
& Less likely to think that international cooperation will solve foreign policy problems> niot truth but on the contrary
    >More likely to favor harsh criminal punishments over milder ones: Not true, I aam against capital death punishments and believe that prisions should help the criminal to change his behaviour and try to resocialize him..

    Awesome, so fun & thoughtful…
Thanks for sharing BGP… Hugs & all the best for you; Aquileana 🙂

      Hi Aqui,
Thanks for explaining your results here! As you say, it’s a way to get to know you better 🙂 And that I am. When you told me you smoke cigarettes, I was shocked! I do hope you quit soon so that you stay healthy xx I only want the best for you, which you know already.

I love that you got the result “likely to enjoy complex and abstract discussions.” That makes me smile! How much we love our clever lines to one another, whether privately or on a public platform.

I am learning about you, for sure. Mind you, I know quite a bit already ((hugs)).

Wishing you a wonderful day, and thanks so much for stopping by to read, comment and share the post! That means a lot to me. YOU mean a lot to me.

      xoxo Love Chris

You mean a lot to me and you know it..
And. It is my pleasure to share your posts, so anytime!
Yes, I know I should quit smoking. It is a legacy from my times at University, an certainly a bad habit, but at least and luckily, the only one I have …
This test was awesome, I have certainly found some characteristics that describe me well as I am…
Thanks also for your beautiful reply here; Love Aquileana/ AP 🙂

I’m all quizzed out at the moment 😉 In the past couple of weeks I’ve learned I am most like Boba Fet from Star Wars, Penny from The Big Bang Theory, Jon Snow from Game of Thrones. Not to mention, I should live in Paris, and I’m apparently a Great Dane.

I am so enjoying these quizzes and scored a Barack Obama. My scores indicate that I am (mostly true):

TRUE: Not likely to discriminate on the basis of race or sexual orientation.
TRUE: More likely to be pro-choice rather than pro-life.
TRUE: Likely to feel trapped by the status quo.
TRUE: Likely to enjoy complex and abstract discussions.
TRUE (but only the arts and humanities): Likely to be more knowledgeable on academic topics.
FALSE: More likely to favor military intervention as a means of solving foreign policy problems.
FALSE: Less likely to think that international cooperation will solve foreign policy problems.
TRUE: More likely to take responsibility and to take an active interest in your community.
FALSE: More likely to be patriotic and proud of your country.
FALSE:More likely to enjoy romantic fiction than the rest of the population.
TRUE: Less likely to frequently change jobs and partners.
TRUE: Less likely to end up in jail or to get in trouble with the law.
TRUE: More likely to generally agree with your immediate friends and family.
TRUE: More likely to simply avoid people who are hostile to you, or with whom you are in disagreement.
UNDECIDED: More likely to oppose capital punishment.
TRUE: More likely to take a favorable view of government welfare programs.

And I love to experiment with all cuisines.(And I do love broccoli).

Other quizzes have indicated I should live in Barcelona (how ironic), I am Bernadette from the Big Bang Theory and the writing should be my career (ditto).

      Well hello there Ms President!

I love the way you broke down the results into True and False. Now that I’m commenting, I’m thinking about horoscopes. I note that some things about my sign (Leo) are true, while others are not. Is this results page along those same lines?

Mmmm cuisines 🙂 I love that broccoli is a part of the results page!! How cool that you also took other tests – you had me as “Big Bang” as that’s one of my fave shows.

Wonderful to see you here today – and so happy for you with the increased client workload recently! You go girl 🙂

My results were pretty close to Veronica’s. I, too, am a Barack Obama (and I don’t have a problems with that.) And, yes! Would love to live in Barcelona! They had to drag me kicking and screaming out of the W Hotel there a few years ago. I didn’t want to leave!

    HI Christy,
I took the teast, and I compared with President James Madison too,
According to a study done by Jeffery J. Mondak, Ph.D., your scores indicate that you are:

Less likely to frequently change jobs and partners.
Less likely to end up in jail or to get in trouble with the law.
More likely to generally agree with your immediate friends and family.
More likely to simply avoid people who are hostile to you, or with whom you are in disagreement.
More likely to oppose capital punishment.
More likely to take a favorable view of government welfare programs.

    Mind you it ended with:-

According to a study done by Jayme Neiman, Ph.D., your scores indicate that you are:
Amazingly, your personality is simply too smooth and well-rounded for Dr. Neiman’s study to be able to say anything about you.
I have no idea if that’s good or bad? 😉 Mayhap I should be a door to door salesperson? Enjoyed that immensely though. xPenx

      Pen,
So we’re BOTH Madison – hehe perhaps we are twins?!! As for the “simply too smooth” comment about your personality – that’s just a reflection of the cool gal we all know you are! I’m so glad to have you here and thanks for taking part in the fun. We poets have to stick together 🙂

Since I’m interested in politics and know quite a lot about American history, I did this one. I’m Barack Obama. The quote was right on: while I like trying to influence people, I hate trying to deceive them. I’m not sure I’m high on extroversion, but the rest of the profile looked pretty good. As usual with such tests I started arguing with the questions: “That’s two questions and I react differently to each bit!” (for example, I don’t often act impulsively, but I do quite often regret my decisions); and while I’m not very fond of parties (unless I already know most of the people) or discos (how many sixty somethings are?), if “bars” means “pubs”, I love them and socialise easily in them.

The list of things I’m likely to be or support was less on target. I probably classify as “pro-life” rather than “pro-choice” (though it seems to me strange to want to reduce the number of abortions and at the same time discourage people from using early birth control) and I’m not often in favour of military solutions to problems, for example. But maybe this list was written with American attitudes and issues in mind.

Anyway, interesting. I don’t know how many presidents they have in stock: I’d rather hoped to be Millard Filmore, Andrew Johnson or Chester Arthur.

Simon, or Barack, if I can call you that instead (!),

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback on the test. I see you pointing out that language can really change between US and UK — for example, whether a “bar” is a pub or a nightclub instead. That’s an interesting tangent to run on.

I also note that if you react right away to a question with your answer, it may be different than if you ponder the question a while.

In addition, I learned quite a bit about you from the answers you tell me you gave 🙂 I know you’re have great insights into history and politics so it’s wonderful to have you join in. Thank-you.
