Bottom of a Waterway collaboration Christy Birmingham and Jolie Buchanan

It was great to collaborate again with awesome artist Jolie Buchanan! In this collaboration, which we title “Bottom of a Waterway,” Jolie’s artwork pairs with my poem below it. I wanted to reblog it here so you could all see it too! I hope you enjoy the project; we had a lot of fun creating it!

Sending smiles for your new week ahead!
Love Christy

Bottom of a Waterway

Collaboration

Christy Birmingham and Jolie Buchanan

Bottom of the Waterway by Jolie Buchanan collab with Christy Birmingham

My mind goes to the river,
Only seconds before my toes follow, and
My thoughts rush over debris that sits at the
Bottom of a waterway full of tears.

My flesh is eaten by the liquid smoothness of
A river and of a light, with a newfound joy that
Resonates within my bones.

As I reach forward with my hands, I scoop up
The weeds that peak through the water,
The softness of my palms meeting them for
A thoughtful exchange of what to enjoy tomorrow.

Indeed, there is more to be had.

And, in turn, through our meeting of
Weeds, water and whimsy,
I tell myself that it is okay to start at the bottom
Again.

Beautiful poem which could be probably linked to the idea of existence, and time as a unstoppable flowing river. (No man steps twice in the same river…). I loved the “watery” images of your poem… And JolleΒ΄s blue painting goes well along with your verses…
Thanks for sharing. Best wishes, Aquileana πŸ˜‰

Intense, I walked there, laid at rest amongst the weeds beneath the water, looking up to press the ripples as each they faded beneath their song, watching as the dragonfly dance on a silent breeze. Where I went after reading as I closed my eyes to feel free.

The art and the verse intertwine to refract the colours to a fine wine waiting on rested watered silk.

    DEAR CHRISTY,

RIGHT NOW I’M STUCKED ON THE BOTTOM… AGAIN
BUT WHEN MY FEET ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF THIS MUD
I WILL GET LOOSE THEM AND THE REST OF MY BODY AND MIND
OF ALL THIS DIRTH THAT’S MADE MY LIFE SO HARD TO LIVE…

AND THEN..I WILL RAISE UP TO THE SURFACE AND EVEN HIGHER
I WILL FLY BACK INTO LIFE AGAIN
I WILL TRY TO FORGET ALL MY SORROW
AND THEN,YES THEN I WILL LIVE AGAIN!

THANK YOU SWEETIE,FOR GIVING ME SOME COURAGE!!! LOVE YOU β™₯β™₯β™₯

Truly BEAUTIFUL! The poetry and picture just flowed together in such bliss. I was sad when I read your last line, that it had to end. It was wonderful to be caught up in this beautiful collaboration and privileged to be able to enjoy such talent. Gold stars to both of you!
