Ohhh the Writing Process Blog Tour is making the rounds and its next stop is with me! How cool is that? I get to write about writing – well, I do type a lot in a day, so I guess I know a bit, hehe!
Thank-you to Jez Farmer at The Boy Poet for the invite! Be sure to check out the site if you’re not following it already.
The questions are:
What are you currently working on?
I am a freelance writer and poet, which means I have my hands full. I focus on writing online; I have two blogs and contribute articles to many websites. As well, I do a lot of work that you won’t see published with my name on it; I don’t get a byline for that work and therefore it is called “ghostwriting.” Those assignments range from blog posts to product descriptions and are for several companies around the world. In other words, I’m at my computer a lot. But don’t worry as I do spend time with family and friends, and there’s a healthy dose of TV thrown in there too ((smiles)).
My first blog is Poetic Parfait (hey you’re already here!). It is a mix of original poetry, fiction, bookish posts and author interviews. I hope that you take away inspiration from reading the posts here.
My second blog is When Women Inspire. The site is all about highlighting women around the world who are accomplishing positive things. Sometimes I discuss women’s issues but I always try to focus on the inspiration.
How does your work differ from others of its genre?
My blogging work to me is all about helping people see the positive. I hope people leave my posts feeling they learned something or at least with a smile. For my poetry specifically, I have a writing style that is unique and lyrical, with a good helping of metaphor in it. Sometimes I focus on sensitive topics such as depression and abuse.
Why do you write what you do?
Sometimes it’s easy to forget this part and get caught up in the present day tasks. But, I write what I do because I have been in bad times and now am in a better, healthier form. I am proof that you can get to the darkest corners of the room and then fight to be in the light streaming through the window. I know that if I can find strength to get better then I can help other people do the same thing – and if I can do it then so can they! My struggles with depression, anxiety and abuse have led me to write about these particular subjects.
How does your writing process work?
There are three essentials: 1) Chocolate 2) Coffee 3) Computer — they are the 3 c’s of the house! I am much better at focusing on writing in the morning than in the evening, and I always begin my day by writing a “to-do” list of the tasks to do. I try my best not to be hard on myself if I don’t get through the list for that particular day.
I have chosen these bloggers to come on the writing tour next! The talented writers I pick are:
OK, you awesome writers, let’s get this blog tour on to the next stops! To all the people I tagged above, you can continue by answering the questions at your own sites and then tagging more bloggers! Have fun 🙂
