About Poetic Parfait

Water scene in Victoria, BC

Victoria, BC, Canada. The home of the poetry.

Welcome.

Sit down and stay awhile. Hungry? Let me grab you something. Poetic Parfait is a delicious treat for the mind.

Read poetry, enter discussions about the poetic word, listen to music, and embrace words that intend to inspire.

I began Poetic Parfait in 2011, and the amount of support it receives on a daily basis humbles me. I began to write poetry at this site as a way to help myself get through a period of depression. As I typed the lines, I found they helped me work through my feelings and darkness that I felt around me.

As I published poems, I was amazed at the kind reception they received (so quickly!), within the blogging community. I started to become friends with other writers, and they left me messages to say my words helped them in some way. Those comments gave me strength and courage to continue to write. Today I am so proud of Poetic Parfait.

This site is a haven for you to gain insights through poetry about love, connection, endurance, inspiration, health and more. You are welcome to the poetry table and we also serve up flash fiction, short stories and book-related posts.

To find out more about me, listen in on my podcast interview on The Authentic Woman radio show. Thanks to the host Shannon Fisher for having me as a guest!

You can also check out my first poetry collection Pathways to Illumination. Below is the trailer for the book; Pathways to Illumination chronicles the path of a woman after the end of an unhealthy relationship.

May the words at Poetic Parfait delight your eyes and calm your mind. May you be healthy in spirit and happy in heart.

~Christy Birmingham, christyb

You are a very creative writer. I have read some of your hubs which was nominated hub of the day. You write really nice. You pick simple topics from everyday life. I can’t even imagine what to write except my niche.

You are welcome Christy. By the way, I am not active in Hubpages. After using hubpages for 2 years I just opened my account there a few months ago. You can have a look at my personal blog. But I fear it will not interest you as it is completely dedicated to web marketing. 😀

Glad to find your corner of the world. Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you find some things that make you want to read. I am not an artist, just an occasional bender of words. I appreciate any comments and/or constructive criticism as I have only recently in life begun to let my words out. Charles

So gad you visited my blog site, and now I can visit yours. I’m staying to look around and read! I started writing poetry years ago and it morphed into creative non-fiction. Humor followed. Same beginning in poetry – to work through feelings. It helped!

Hey Christy! Long time no speak :). I have a question, I’m not sure who to ask or how to look for it but your page was the first to come to mind that does exactly what I’m looking for. Sorry for the rambling :D.

How do I add posts to individual pages? For example, I have short stories I want to add to a new page I added called “Project 10” but I want to post on the page like I do regular posts. Is that possible? *Sorry if that’s confusing.* For example, how your Short stories page looks 😀

I don’t consider myself a poet – by ANY means – but the reason you began (to lift depression) jumped out at me. That’s when I have written most of my own poetry – putting the dark thoughts on paper gets them out of the dark corners of my mind.

I’ve only shared ONE online, in a fairly recent post [“When Depression Comes Knocking”] – you can still find it on the right sidebar links to most recent 20 posts (or use the search at the top right of the site)

    Pleased to meetcha’

It’s very hard to keep up with everyone’s. I try to go back and read them. I am sure I have lost a lot of followers, because I have not liked or comments on their posts for a long time. I have to devote a day to that alone.

Just do the best you can. You needn’t read every post of every follower but instead pick ones that appeal to you and enjoy them, showing them appreciation with a like and/or comment. The quality connections understand you are busy, as are we all, and appreciate when you do visit 🙂

I have been trying to do exactly that, but there were some earlier followers who I really liked and have had a hard time getting to there pages, even though I want to so bad. I also have no time to write, and then spending time on Facebook takes even more time. There are not enough hours in the day.
